Thanks for the recap, Cliff. No way Locke can be dead. If he is, that will be a major mistake on the part of the writers.

Please, please, please, let Charlie die next week. Still, I'm guessing that either Desmond or Claire will get it instead.

Default Lost Episode Review - Greatest Hits

So Charlie didn't die. I guess he at least tried to die, but now he's captured. What do you think his chances of dying are now?

I'm betting they're not that good.

That's about what I figured. I knew it would have been too straightforward to have him march off and die. I thought we were going to get Desmond's sacrifice instead, but Charlie foiled that.

Now we have to ask, who are these other people? Others, I guess. Maybe it's something entirely different.

At least Jack had a good plan. After stumbling into Others traps for the last couple of seasons, at least the good guys are taking it up a notch.

If those rumors are true about five people dying in the last five episodes, they better get on the ball.

This was a fair enough episode, though it's all building towards next week. I hope the payoff is spectacular, or this one won't look so great in retrospect.

IN wrestling, when they promise a match and don't deliver, they call it "bait and switch." That's what it seems like went on in tonight's episode. For God's sake, if you keep hinting that Charlie is going to die, then just kill him already. I know he's shagging Evangeline Lilly in real life, but enough is enough. CHARLIE MUST DIE!

Default The Charlie Must Die Thread

It's time for Charlie to become heroic.

He's ready to sacrifice himself. He has women tell him he's a hero. It looks like next week he'll start getting tortured like Saywer.

Next thing you know, he'll be choking people to death with a chain.

Default Lost Episode Guide - Season 3 - Episode 22 - Through the Looking Glass

FLASHBACK:

Jack (in a beard) having a drink on a flight. He wants another drink. The stewardess says they'll be landing in twenty minutes and offers him a newspaper. There is turbulence. He sees something in the newspaper and tears out a piece.

Jack is in a truck in a city. He stops and wads up the newspaper. He begins to cry. He makes a call on his cellphone. "Hey. It's me. I just read..." and he chokes on his words. He turns off the phone. A train (or is it a barge) is heard in the background. His truck is near a bridge. He gets out and goes to the ledge. He looks like he's about to jump down onto the barge.

He hears a car crash behind him and voices of a woman and child. Jack goes to save them.

PRESENT:

The castaways are getting prepared on the beach. Jack and Kate share a look. Jack goes to Sayid and they talk about final preparations. Sayid wants Jack and everyone else not to turn around, no matter what happens. They wish one another good luck.

Rose and Bernard say goodbye. She makes him promise that he'll remember he's a dentist and not Rambo.

Jin and Sun say goodbye. Jin wants Sun to stay near Jack. Jin says, "because we have to go home" in fairly good English.

Jack calls everyone to move out. Sayid, Bernard and Jin stay behind with guns.

The castaways walk down a different part of the shore. Naomi asks Jack what he did before the island and if she can ask him a question. Naomi wants to show Jack how to use her communication device, in case she can't (that's a bad sign).

Charlie being punched by a blonde woman. The brunette tells the blonde to take it easy. He's tied to a chair. They want to know how he got down here. He says in his invisible submarine and gets another punch. Charlie tells them Juliet told them where this place was. The blonde wants to get in contact with Ben.

Ben is in camp. It is dark. He wants to know why they broke radio contact. The blonde says it is one of "them". He asks which one it is and Charlie calls out, "It's me! Charlie!" Ben sends Bakunin down to the underwater hatch.

The Others approach the camp. The three shooters take aim. They show the hidden dynamite. Sayid shoots the dynamite. It explodes. Bernard shoots and hit. Jin misses, but shoots an other with a pistol. One of the Others knocks him in the head with a rifle butt. One of the Others takes Bernard captive. Sayid draws on the man and Bernard, but a third Other sneaks up on Sayid. The two explosion screwed up several Others, but Jin's miss allowed the Others to take the three shooters captive.

Some distance away, the castaways hear the two explosions. Rose is worried. Kate says that something went wrong, because there were only two explosions. "It didn't work."

FLASHBACK:

Jack (with beard) in the hospital getting stitches. A good-looking female doctor tells him the media want to talk to him as a hero. His ex-wife shows up, asking him if he's been drinking again, if "he's Jack". The ex wants to know what he was doing on the bridge at two in the morning.

He replies, "Do you think you can give me a lift home?"
She says, "I don't think that would be appropriate."

They part. (Jack's ex-wife has no personality. I hate her.)

PRESENT:

Jack tells Jin and Rose they must continue. They want to stay. "We have a plan. For all we know, it worked." The group continues on. Sun comforts Rose.

The blonde tells Charlie, "I'm going to ask you one more time, why are you here."

He tells the blonde that he's going to turn off their jamming equipment. She asks him what the code is. He looks confused, then tells her he won't need the code, because the hatch will be flooded. When she asks what he will do, he says he will die.

Mr. Friendly tells Ben over the communicator, "Diane, Ivan, they're all dead". Ben wants them to kill Jin, to make the three talk.

Sayid says they will kill us all anyway, and gets him in the face with a rifle. The put the gun to Jin's head and he says, "Sayanora" (I think that's what he said). Bernard begins to spill his guts.

He tells about the group fleeing to the transmitter, and that Carl came in a boat to tell them of the attack. Mr. Friendly asks if they should kill them, and Ben says, "No. Not yet."

It is daytime. Ben is drawing on a map at a table. Richard looks to be messing around with a putter. Ben wants to find Jack and his friends. Richard warns him not to go alone, that the Others are starting to talk, that rumors are starting to say everyone on the beach is dead. Ben's daughter wants to go with him. He says that's a good idea, that she can see Carl again. She gives him a baffled look.

The castaways are stopped at a stream. Sawyer is staring into the water. Kate and he begin to argue. She wants to go back to help the three, because they should have caught up by now. He doesn't want to, saying there is always someone to go back for. She says he's been acting differently since he got Locke's tape. She splashes him with water and says that Juliet went to the medical hatch to check to see if Kate is pregnant, too. "Well, let's hope you're not," says Saywer, and walks off.

Desmond is out in the boat. Suddenly, Bakunin starts to shoot at him with a rifle. Desmond takes a breath and begins to swim towards the hatch. The two women are arguing in the next room. Charlie tells Desmond to hide. They hear him and asks him what he's doing. He says he's singing, "You all, everybody." The blonde hits him and draws blonde. Charlie has them fooled. He looks through a window grate of some sort and sees Desmond hiding behind it.

FLASHBACK:

Woman in a hospital bed, looks to be in bad condition with head wrapped up. Jack (in beard) looking at her chart. The woman's doctor comes in. When he learns he is Jack Sheppard, the doctor wants to shake his hand. Jack wants to perform an operation on the woman. The doctor mentions another fine doctor who will perform the surgery. "With all due respect..." and Jack repeats he wants to perform the surgery. The doctor talks him out of it, but Jack wants him to let him know as soon as it's over. Jack walks outside, sees the woman's 8-year old boy, who is watching a news report of him saving the woman and the boy.

PRESENT:

Sawyer tells Jack he wants to go back for their friends. Kate wants to go. Sawyer says he doesn't want her to go. Jack says he doesn't even have a weapon. Juliet says she knows where there's a secret cache of guns. Jack says she doesn't have to do this. "I kind of do."

Juliet and Sawyer go after the guns.

Charlie is singing. He's driving the blonde to distraction. She wants to find the speargun and kills Charlie slowly. Bakunin shows up. He seems surprised that the blonde and brunette are still on the island. (I thought you were on a -- to Canada.) He mentions that he chased Charlie's friend down to the hatch. Charlie mentions to Bakunin that Ben is jamming transmissions from the island.

Bakunin is talking to Ben on the radio. He wants to know why Ben lied to him about the jamming. Ben says that the island is under assault by forces greater than anything in some time. Bakunin asks why Ben didn't trust him. Ben says he "made a mistake", but Bakunin has to do some things to help him. Ben wants Bakunin to kill Charlie. Then he will have to kill "Greta and Bonnie", so they don't tell the rest of the Others about the jamming. Bakunin asks how he knows that Ben didn't tell them to kill him (Bakunin), and Ben replies, "If that were the case, you would already be dead."

Sawyer is asking Juliet about all the work they had them doing back at camp. "It was a runway for the aliens." (a joke) Sawyer asks her if she's screwing Jack yet. "No. Are you?" Sawyer asks where the guns are. She says she lied, that that was the only way Jack would let them go back.

Suddenly, Hurley shows up, saying he wants to go with them. Sawyer says that Hurley will get them all killed, but lets him come with them.

Ben and his daughter are stopped. She asks why he let her come with him. "Because you betrayed me." She gives the litany of things she did to him that she considers betrayals. She asks why he doesn't let them live. "Because I CAN'T, Alex."

Locke is lying in the pit of bones. He is struggling to move. He picks up a pistol on the ground near him. He makes sure it has bullets. He puts the gun to his forehead. "Don't, John."

Locke looks up and it is Walter. Locke says that he's been shot and he can't move his legs. Walter says that he can move his legs, "so get up."

"Why", asks Locke.
"Because you have work to do," says Walt.

Kate and Jack talking on the side of the trail. Jack asks why she didn't go with Sawyer. She says Sawyer didn't want her to. Jack says Sawyer wanted to protect her, that's why he told her not to come back.

Kate: "Why are you taking up for Saywer? He would never do it for you."
Jack: "Because I love you." Then he walks off.

Default Lost Episode Guide - Season 3 - Episode 22 - Through the Looking Glass - Part 2

FLASHBACK:

Jack driving into a small town to a funeral parlor. He is playing hard rock of some sort in his Jeep. He has sunglasses and the beard and is trying to look like a badass.

Jack walks into the funeral home and the funeral director tells him that no one, neither family or friends, showed up for the funeral. Jack says he's neither family or friend. The funeral director tells him he can spend a few minutes alone. He walks over to the coffin, takes a pill, puts the sunglasses on again and walks out.

PRESENT:

Jack asks Danielle when she was last at the transmitter. She says when she recorded the message. Suddenly, Ben and Alex show up. Danielle gives her crazy look. Ben tells Jack, "Jack! We have to talk."

Bakunin puts on his eyepatch. The brunette asks what Ben said. The blonde asks if she can kill Charlie. Bakunin begins to question them about why they are here. The blonde says she trusts Ben and Jacob and the moment she starts questioning orders, everything falls apart. "You have a good point," says Bakunin.

He shoots the brunette, then wounds on the blonde. "I, too, am following orders." As he cocks to finish her off, Desmond appears with the speargun and shoots Bakunin in the chest. He goes to shoot the blonde, and Charlie tells Desmond, "Wait. We need her."

Ben wants Jack to talk for five minutes. "You killed five of my people. The least you can do is talk to me."

FLASHBACK:

Jack is wanted his prescription filled: Oxycodone. A guy behind him wants to shake his hand, because he's a hero. The woman behind the counter tells him she can't let him write his own prescription. He says that's the Dr. Sheppard is "Christian Shepard", his father. They want to call his father to ask about the prescription. He walks out. Jack is clearly addicted to pain medication.

PRESENT:

Ben mentions a decision he made once cost 40 lives. Ben says that the woman who parachuted onto the island is not who she says she is. He says that if the woman radios her people, that they will kill every single person on the island. Ben says they can each walk back to "their people". Ben wants his walkie talkie back.

Ben mentions that Jack's plan killed seven of his people, but the ones who didn't die have his people captive. Jack asks what's keeping him from snapping his neck. Ben tells them if they don't hear his voice in one minute, that they should shoot the captives. Ben starts to ask Jack why he wants off the island, then starts to count down. Suddenly, gun shots ring out on the walkie talkie. "Sorry, Jack," says Ben.

Jack snaps, jumps on Ben and starts to beat him bloody and senseless. He gets on Ben's communicator and asks for Tom. "Yes, Jack?"

Jack: "I'm about to lead my people to the transmitter and get them rescued. Then I'm going to come back and kill you."

The brunette floats dead in the water. The blonde (Bonnie) moans. Charlie explains that Ben betrayed her, that she can make him really unhappy by telling him the code. She begins to give the code, but he can't hear plainly. She says "Good Vibrations", that the code was programmed by a musician.

Jack marches Ben back to the group. He tells them to tie Ben up, that he's coming with us. Ben's "daughter" walks over to him with concern in her eyes. Danielle walks up and Alex asks her, "What?"

Ben (in serious pain), says (meekly), "Alex...this is your mother." (great line)

Jack pulls out a bottle of water. Kate asks what Ben said. Jack says it isn't important. Kate starts to dress his bloody hand from beating Ben. Jack tells her that they killed Sayid, Jin and Bernard, and he let them do it. "I had to." He tells her not to let the rest know for now. Kate asks why he didn't kill Ben. "Because I want him to see it (them reach the transmitter)".

Sawyer and Juliet hiding near the beach. They see the three captives still alive. Tom shot the guns into the sand instead of the captives. Juliet and Sawyer puzzle about what they are going to do. Suddenly, Hurley drives the blue van onto the beach. He runs down one of the Others.

Sayid grabs another with his legs and snaps his neck. They grab the guns. Juliet holds a gun on Tom and tells him to surrender. Tom says he surrenders. Sawyer shoots him anyway.

"That's for taking the kid off the raft," says Sawyer to Tom.
"Dude, it was over. He surrended," says Hurley.
"I didn't believe him," replies Sawyer.

FLASHBACK:

Jack is breaking into the Oxycodone at work. He gets his fix. He grabs some files. The doctor he spoke with earlier asks what he is doing. Jack says he wanted an update. The doctor says he called him three times. Jack says his phone is broken. The doctor wants to talk to him alone in his office. Jack says he will talk to him right here. The doctor asks a nurse to leave. The doctor starts to recount that the injured woman woke up from successful surgery two hours ago and told him the story about a man standing on a bridge. The doctor has pretty much figured out what Jack was doing there, so he asks him how he got to her car so quickly. Jack says he doesn't want to be pitied and walks out of the hospital.

PRESENT:

The group is walking on. Suddenly, Hurley voice is heard on the walkie talkie. He mentions that everyone is safe on the beach. Everyone is relieved. Claire asks about Charlie. Hurley says there's no sign of him, but he's probably paddling his way back by now.

Charlie and Desmond back at the hatch. Charlie asks Desmond if he's had any flashes. Desmond says no. Charlie begins to hum "Good Vibrations" and starts to play it out on the touchtone keypad. This starts to bring the communications equipment to life (so to speak).

A woman (Penelope Ridgemore) is on the other end. It is static-y. She asks about Desmond. Charlie begins to explain about Naomi, when the Penelope asks who Naomi is. Charlie looks over at Bakunin's dead body. It isn't there.

He looks around to see Bakunin through the window, swimming around in the water outside. Bakunin holds a hand grenade. He pulls the pin. Charlie runs to the hatch door as Desmond runs towards it from the other way. Charlie pulls it closed and locks it. There is an explosion. Water begins to rush into Charlie's room, quickly filling it up.

Charlie writes a message to Desmond (through the hatch window) on his hand that says "Not Penny's Boat". Then Charlie (apparently) dies. Sad music plays.

Naomi tells Claire that he friend Charlie just saved them.

Naomi runs up to Jack to tell them "he did it". They listen to the walkie talkie, the strange computer voice talking in the code from Season 1. They walk into the transmitter room. Danielle tells her daughter she put that message up 16 years ago, three days before Alex was born.

Naomi says that she can't get a signal in the transmitter room. They walk outside. Ben is tied to a tree. He begins to warn Jack about making "that call. This is your last chance."

Naomi is about to make the call. She gives a shocked and pained look. A knife is in her back. It was thrown by Locke. Locke is standing there, holding a pistol. Locke tells Jack not to reach for the phone. Jack lunges for it. Locke misses when he tries to shoot Jack.

Locke: "Put down the phone."
Jack: "I want off this isle."
Locke "I will kill you if I have to."

The dial tone is sounding. Locke refuses to kill Jack. Jack gets an answer on the phone. It's a man. Jack explains he's with Naomi and the man seems to recognize the name. He says he a survivor of Oceanic Flight 815 (or whatever). The man says, "Sure. We can rescue you."

FLASHBACK, OR MAYBE NOT:

Jack (with beard) sitting in a room with maps of islands and whatnot strewn around. He calls on his cellphone. "It's me. Don't have up. I just have to see you. Please. I'm at the airport. You know where. Thank you."

Jacks jeep drives up in the dark near a fence surrounding an airport. A woman shows up in a car. It's Kate and she's pregnant. "Still pulling people out of burning wreckage?"

"Old habit."
"You look terrible."
"Thanks."
"Why did you call me?"

Jack shows her the newspaper clipping.

"I was hoping you had heard and would go to the funeral."
"Why would I go to the funeral?"

Jack mentions he's been flying a lot lately, using the "golden pass". He says that he's been going to Tokyo and Singapore and everywhere else. He says that he wants to crash, that he wants to go back. He says they made a mistake and they weren't supposed to leave. Kate replies that, "Yes, we were. Goodbye, Jack."

"We have to go back, Kate."

Kate gets in the car and looks sad. She drives off.

"WE HAVE TO GO BACK!"

A plane flies overhead.
