John's rescue of Eko from the polar bear cave reminded me of Luke's fight with the ice monster on Hoth.
I have a question. Last week, why did the Others have Sawyer and Kate doing manual labor? Is that part of their conditioning to become Others themselves, or simply a glimpse of what life will be like on the other side of the island? |

Maybe the Others are just lazy. But seriously, I have no idea why. I wouldn't think it would be part of their conditioning. I mean, these people have survived a plane crash and been forced to work for eveything since they've been on the island. I don't see how doing a little manual labor is supposed to "break" them. |

These answers will all be revealed I hope.
Although I'm afraid that this guy who punched Sawyer in the face repeatedly while asking Kate if she loved him is just kinda kooky. That's not a normal response for someone who is grief-stricken, really. Heck, what do they expect when they go around kidnapping people? When you kidnap people, you're liable to get shot. I think it's great that they've found excuses to show off a lot of Kate-skin. She's fantastic. I think the woman who's with the Others is really hot. Did anyone else notice Jack getting into the chick's head by talking about Ben being in charge? Lots of parallels with last season when Ben (then known as "Henry Gale") got into Locke's head about Jack. |

This was the best episode of season 3.
Looks like Jack is in the middle of a power struggle among the others. Juliet wants Jack to help kill Ben, while Ben wants Jack to save his life. Great stuff here. My guess is, Jack will refuse to use his doctor skills to take another human life. They introduced a much-needed hottie. This time, it's Nikki, played by Kiele Sanchez. Not much screen time yet, except to point out the obvious to Locke, Sayeed and Desmond. Her boyfriend/husband, Paolo, looks to be of the useless Charlie or Michael type. Hope Nikki stays around, if for no other reason than they killed off half the women last year. Eko is gone. I hated to see that happen. You knew somebody was going to get it. Guess the people who names Eko were right. Wish he would have had a better end. At least he refused to compromise. In this case, that means repent for something he was proud of doing. (That is, saving his brother's life, or at least saving his kid brother from killing a man, and therefore allowing him to live the life of a priest.) When Eko refused to repent, the "smoke creature" or demon of whatever you want to call it killed him.

Eko dead? I wouldn't have guessed that. Damn, I wish they would kill Charlie or Claire. They're both completely worthless (especially Charlie).
I remember reading where the actor who played Eko was under contract and therefore wouldn't die. So much for that theory. |

For the first time in memory, Lost was out of the top 5 rated shows during the October 23rd through 29th period.
Also, I read where the actor who portrayed Eko wanted to be let go. Both his parents recently passed away, and he had other personal business to take care of. |

"Lost" (16.1 million, 6.6/12) remained the night's demo winner but a surging "Criminal Minds" (16.7 million, 4.9/12) sailed past it at 9:30 p.m. and for the entire hour.

Here's something cool I came across on the web. It's 16 crazy 'Lost" theories. What do you think?
16. Real-life scientists Hannes Alven and Hans Oersted predicted Earth would suffer from an electromagnetic catastrophe. It's believed that 'Lost' creators paid homage to their ideas by naming character Alvar Hanso, CEO of the Hanso Foundation, after them. 15. Whats in a name? Many argue John Locke's character can be compared with political theorist John Locke. Another example points out a reference to 'Jacob's List,' which can be compared to 'Jacob's Ladder,' and would work well with the idea that the island is purgatory. 14. How can so many people with personal issues survive a plane crash? Where do babies go when they die? TV Squad pointed out that Boone "died" after making peace with all his sister issues. His death occurred at the same time as the birth of baby Aaron. However, that doesn't explain why Walt's dog is on the island. 13. On Retrieversoftruth.com, Dr. Vincent "Wally" Bole delineates a timeline of important labrador retriever moments. One should pay close attention to the moment when a servant named "Lloyd" saves a yellow lab. Lloyd is also the family name for Walt's deceased mother, Susan. It is suggested that yellow labs are clairvoyant and are guardian angels. 12. Susan Lloyd (Walt's mother) and Alvar Hanso both have a rare blood disorder. In both the show and the 'Lost Experience' game, several characters have been afflicted with illnesses that required medical attention. Susan, unfortunately, did not survive. It's also one of the few connections between the Hanso characters on the show. 11. The Others always said Walt was special. AOL Television's Elizabeth Chan theorizes that Michael is not Walt's biological father. Susan and Walt had both vocally denied Michael's paternity. On top of the similarity that bad things surround both Walt and Aaron, Susan's law firm may have also been the people handling Claires' adoption which directed to specifically take the doomed Flight 815. 10. On top of her boyfriend running out on her during her pregnancy with Aaron, Claire is also fatherless. She or her boyfriend Thomas might be fathered by Alvar Hanso. According to an entry in Lostpedia, the hatch murals bear an uncanny resemblance to Thomas' artwork. AOL Television's Elizabeth Chan also feels this indicates that he may have lived in the hatch on the island. 9. The numbers should not be viewed as separate figures, but as a sum that represents the amount of time left before the Earth's destruction. Explained by fictional author Gary Troupe, author of 'Bad Twin', he suggests the numbers are an answer to the "Valenzetti Equation", which imprisoned mathematicians attempted to solve. Do Hurley's friends in the psych ward ring a bell?
