My top three (at the moment) would have to be:

1. The Shield

2. Miami Vice

3. Hill Street Blues

(Of course, it's hard to beat Sheriff Lobo. )

Scully and Mulder had the authority to arrest people, so I guess it would count. I never even thought about that one, but it was a great show. Rumor has it that they're talking about making another movie.

The best for me is still Cops. This show was the first and best "reality" show out there. To me personally, it doesn't get any better than to watch an officer try apprehend someone while that person is either drunk or stoned (or both), almost naked, and screaming obcenities while a blue dot conceals their face. It's offered that kind of quality consistency for almost two decades now.

I'm surprised none of you mention CSI or Law & Order. Mariska Hargitay is not bad in the latter. Oh yeah, I also liked T.J. Hooker. Remember that one?

Nobody could ride a hood like TJ, and Heather Locklear was looking mighty fine.

As far as CSI and the 900 Law and Order shows, I just never got into them that much. Law and Order always looked to be a solid show, but I just don't watch as much as I used to. CSI is fine, but I always thought it was a bit overrated.
