Default Jessica Simpson in Tears

Singer-actress Jessica Simpson broke down in tears Sunday night after flubbing a song she was performing during the 29th annual Kennedy Center Honors.

Simpson had the uncomfortable moment while singing "Nine to Five" as part of the tribute to Dolly Parton, one of the evening's five honorees. The 'Dukes of Hazzard' actress ended the song abruptly with the words "so nervous" and quickly left the stage, to no applause from the star-studded audience, which included President Bush.

Simpson appeared to be in tears when she and the other singers in the tribute came back out.

CBS will broadcast the show Dec. 26 at 9 p.m. The network has not indicated if they will edit the Simpson incident out of the special.

Well the good thing is that her sister can lend her a sympathetic ear. I believe she has extensive experience of leaving a stage to no applause. One quick question I have is how can you be nervous singing the song "Nine to Five"? I mean I would understand if it's the National Anthem or something like that, but "Nine to Five?" That seems like the kind of song any inebriated person can belt out at 1 in the morning at their local karoake bar. If anything, they should be more nervous cause if they're that horrible, they will have to put up with friends and co workers who will never let them live the experience down and will always bring it up at the worse possible time. Also, if I'm CBS there is no way in hell I edit that out. Why else would people watch the Kennedy Center Honors? Hell I would advertise it... come watch Jessica Simpson have an emotional breakdown on stage... Did she crawl into a fetal position? The answer may surprise you. Tune in Dec. 26 at 9 pm.

I don't hate or dislike her but I just can't believe she has a very high IQ as claimed by her father. I think it's 169 or something. WOW!

You'd also think that she wouldn't have freaked out. I mean, she's hardly new to the music business.

The only thing I can think of is that she was nervous because the person who popularized the song was looking down on her from a balcony.

There's simply no way her IQ is that high.

Someone needs to remind her father of what the Bible says about lying.

I agree, at least about the IQ part. Still, the world needs untalented blondes.

I read where Simpson's number is going to be cut from the broadcast when it airs on TV.

At the risk of sounding like a jealous bitch, she should never have been on there in the first place.
