Has anyone read the book entitled I Am Legend? I came across a description the other day on the internet, and it sounded pretty cool.
The Charleton Heston movie The Omega Man was somewhat based on the book but deviated in several key areas. Basically, the book's plot is as follows: A deadly bacteria spreads across the globe and turns the majority of the population into bloodthirsty vampires. The book's main character is the last known survivor. He holes up in his fortified house by night, fighting off the attacks of the infected. By day, he hunts down and kills the "vampires" (they seem to have most of the strengths/weaknesses of traditional vampires). Of course, there are some plot twists along the way. As for the movie version, it has been in developmental hell for years. Recently, however, Will Smith became attached to the project, so maybe it will get made in the near future. Whether it remains true to the book, however, remains to be seen. |

I saw the original. I'm sure Will Smith would bring a modern flair and sensibility to the role.
