I hope this answers your question. It's an ancient piece of work, by internet standards.

Unforgiven was the best of that set of movies. It's a fine example of a "high parody", in the tradition of Hamlet, in fact. The movie follows the tropes and conventions of the Western, while at the same time deconstructing and criticizing the mindset behind that type of movie. Besides which, the acting was brilliant and so was the directing.

Yep. That about sums it up. I freakin' hated that movie. The only reason I saw it was because a friend of mine told me he would pay for my ticket if I would see it with him. Big mistake. I did, however, like the moment where the guy fell off of the upright ship and bounced off the massive propeller.

I don't know if I agree about Crash not deserving it. The other best picture nominees were pretty weak, I thought, although I haven't seen Munich yet. I didn't think the other movies (with the exception of Brokeback Mountain) even deserved their nomination.

I really like A Beautiful Mind. It was sad in alot of places, but for some reason I thought it was a great movie.

I agree. It was a great film about the triumph of the human spirit and all that jazz. When he's not throwing telephones at people, Russell Crowe can turn in great performances.

I think you might change your mind after you see Munich. I figured it might be too preachy and drag on in places, but I was surprised by how it moved along. Of course, Spielberg can't make a movie that's under 2 1/2 hours.
