Default Night Watch

I've noticed that some of you seem interested in horror/zombie movies, so I had a recommendation question about a Russian-produced movie named Night Watch.

I saw it in the video store tonight. It has a gushing blurb from Quentin Tarentino. The problem with that is, Tarentino has made a career of being enthusiastic about b-rate movies.

Apparently, the movie has a supernatural theme, with "...vampires, shapeshifters and witches."

Amazon.com critiques of the movie were all over the place, which is nothing new. Most of the people either loved it or hated it. It was compared to movies ranging from Lord of the Rings to Highlander to The Matrix to Men In Black.

One criticism is the American English version wasn't as good as the English English version, and that the translated movie was confusing to some.

Has anyone here seen the movie? If so, was it worth a watch?

I've placed it in the upper echelon of my Netflix queue, and I'll let you know what I think as soon as I see it.

Well, I finally saw it. It had a few cool moments, but it was very confusing in spots and just plain stupid in others. The previews lead you to believe that there will be a lot of action, but that's just not the case.
I would suggest this film only if you're really hardcore into science-fiction and the supernatural.

And as far as Tarantino goes, he's sort of a Hollywood version of Harry Knowles. He likes any piece of crap that's supposed to be "edgy" or "innovative" (at least Tarantino doesn't bore us with freakin' stories about what he did earlier that day).

Since he's running out of movies to rip off, maybe he can lift something from Night Watch in his next film.
