Default Japanese Horror Film Banned in UK

The gentlemen over at the British Board of Film Classification have decided to ban the potential DVD release of a Japanese horror film known as "Gurotesuku" or "Grotesque." Directed by Koji Shiraishi, the film has been deemed inapproprate for audiences due to "an unrelenting and escalating scenario of humiliation, brutality and sadism."

The film is said to be so violent, that even editing out scenes wouldn't help. These includes moments of people being cut apart, having limbs removed, and being castrated.

With this ruling in place, it will now be illegal to distribute or sell the film in the UK. The only other film banned in the last four years was "Murder Set Pieces," which was banned last year.

Anyway, I'm off to check these movies out. If they're supposed to be that bad, then I definitely want to see them!

I'll be looking forward to hearing your thoughts about the banning of these movies after you've seen them. Keep us updated.

I was angling to get work promoting Grotesque so thanks a bunch BBFC!

The film itself? Unrelentingly nasty and uncuttable to be honest. I don't believe in censorship for adults, but if it exists, this is a film that definitely falls under the steely glance of the examiners.

Sex, violence, torture, violent and a ceaseless pursuit of unpleasantness and erotic sadism; It's a well made Japanese shocker in the vein of the Guinea Pig movies, an exercise in brutality for it's own sake.

Better than the Mordum Underground movies but in a field of misanthropy, misogyny and general malice, is that an accolade?

Am I the only guy who dislikes Jhorror?

I'm not saying American Horror is good or anything because I know I'd be asking to be flamed. But Jhorror do all that IT'S NOT REALLY HORROR BY POETRY nonsense like Kairo, which happens to be one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Pulse, the remake sucked balls but that film was just as bad...

It's definitely different. There are some JHorror movies that I enjoy, but I'm not exactly into the whole "creepy kid with wet hair" thing. I liked Marebito quite a bit, and I found Suicide Club to be entertaining.

Suicide Circle...I think it's called, is a Japanese Comicbook homage to the Suicide Club movie and is worth reading if you have the chance.

It's hard to beat a good castration scene. I remember thinking to myself while watching Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, "What this movie needs are some robot nuts getting cut off and then motor oil spewing everywhere."

Are you listening, Michael Bay?
