Default Derailed - With Jennifer Aniston and Clive Owen

Watched Derailed tonight with the wife on my new big screen tv. First movie we watched on it. Derailed is a thriller in an almost film noir style, and Jennifer Aniston is as hot in this movie as she is in any other, if not hotter. Clive Owen gave a great performance too, managing to look sad and helpless throughout the movie.

It's been said that a movie is only as good as its villain. Derailed has a good, but not great, villain, portrayed by Vincent Cassell.

All in all, definitely worth a look.

(warning - spoilers ahead)

Clive Owen is an advertising exec with a wife and a daughter. The daughter has diabetes, the bad kind, and has already had 3 kidney transplants. He takes a train to work every day, and one day his wife has taken the cash out of his pocket, so he doesn't have train fare. They threaten to throw him off the train, but a lovely and mysterious femme fatale (Jennifer Aniston) offers to pay his fare.

The two talk, and are clearly attracted to each other. They decide to have an affair. They wind up in a seedy hotel room and just before they consummate their illicit passions, a thug bursts into the room, robs Owen and rapes Aniston.

But the nightmare is only beginning for Clive Owen's character. The thug begins calling Owen to extort more money from him. Owen hasn't gone to the police, because he doesn't want his wife to find out about the affair, and also because Aniston's character doesn't want her husband to find out and divorce her.

Hijinks ensue.

It certainly doesn't sound like the usual plot. I'll be checking it out from Netflix sometime in the coming months.

You could do that, or you could just take my copy home with you when you come over Sunday night.

That would work even better. Consider it a deal.
