Default There Will Be Blood

Starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Paul Dano, Ciaran Hinds, and Kevin J. O'Connor

When Daniel Plainview (Day-Lewis) gets a mysterious tip-off that there's a little town out West where an ocean of oil is oozing out of the ground, he heads there with his son, H.W., to take their chances in dust-worn Little Boston.

In this hardscrabble town, where the main excitement centers around the HOLY ROLLER church of charismatic preacher Eli Sunday, Plainview and H.W. make their lucky strike.

This movie is getting excellent reviews.

What a toss up between this filma and No Country for best picture. It's hard to say which one will win. Both were quality films. I'm going with No Country though, simply because the Coen's have a slightly better track record.

I've heard that Daniel Day-Lewis accepted the role of Daniel Plainview as he had been a fan of Paul Thomas Anderson's previous film, I think he enjoyed playing this one...

Yeah I heard the same. You could tell he really liked the role. Lewis was not Lewis anymore in this film. He was Plainview through and through. Sign of a top-notch actor, that's for sure. Can't wait for the Oscars. I still say No Country will take best picture.

Agreed. This years Oscars (unlike the Oscars of yesteryear) are actually going to be worth watching. Just some great movies in 2007. I usually watch a bit of the Oscars and then turn it off, but not this year.
