Best Horror Director?
In your opinion, which of these 3 directors is superior when it comes to making horror movies?
1. John Carpenter - Directed the following: Halloween The Fog Christine The Thing Prince of Darkness In the Mouth of Madness Vampires Village of the Damned Cigarette Burns 2. John Landis - He's directed the following: An American Werewolf in London Twilight Zone: The Movie Innocent Blood Deer Woman 3. David Cronenberg - He directed: Rabid Shivers The Brood Scanners Videodrome The Fly Dead Ringers The Dead Zone

While some of the artsy crowd might vote for Cronenberg, I would have to give John Carpenter the nod. All 3 are excellent (Werewolf in London was a freakin scream), but I believe Carpenter's films have had a greater impact on modern filmmaking.
That, and I always thought Kurt Russell was pretty hunky for an older guy. That being said, I thought Cigarette Burns sucked a high hard one. Yuck.

John Carpenter...without a doubt. The Thing and Big Trouble in Little China are my two all-time favorites.
His career has really run out of steam, but he was a force of nature during the 80s.

Cronenberg wins on originality. Videodrome was reall nice and The Fly is one of best movies ever. Carpenter was good, but all his movies had that same cheap-sounding music. And who can forget Michael Ironside getting his head blown up in Scanners?

I'd vote for Cronenberg if not for Halloween, which I contend is a masterpiece far beyond just the horror genre.

Has to be Carpenter. The Fog scared em witless as a kid and the rest of his work is great too.

The list was about which of the three was the better horror director, not who was the greatest of all time. As much as I like all these guys, I never claimed that they could hold a candle to Hitch.
Hitchcock's on a whole other level.
