Default Martin Scorsese to Remake Taxi Driver?!

There are reports circulating that director Martin Scorsese might be revisiting Taxi Driver. No word on if the film will be a sequel or a remake. He may team up with director Lars von Trier, and the latter may actually be the one to helm the picture. It's also rumored that Robert De Niro may also reprise his role as crazed taxi driver Travis Bickle.

I'll post more if this news is confirmed, but the Danish film magazine Ekko seems pretty sure of the info (for what that's worth).

Any thoughts?

Why?!?!?!?! Taxi Driver is perfect as is! I guess it would be one thing if someone else decided to remake it, but Scorsese remaking it himself? That doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever.

Speaking of which, your thread got me thinking about director's remaking their own movies. I know Hitchcock did it with The Man Who Knew Too Much. Are there any others?

I have not heard about this at all. This would be amazing if he did a remake of this film. It is definitely a classic.

I haven't heard about this, but I hope he doesn't. The film is perfect the way it is.
