Default Del Toro to Direct "The Hobbit"

Guillermo Del Toro, the director of "Pan's Labyrinth" and the "Hellboy" movies has officially signed on to helm the new adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy adventure that documents the early adventures of Bilbo Baggins.

Variety reports that del Toro will be moving to New Zealand for the next four years to develop this project with Peter Jackson. The two "Hobbit" films will be made back to back, with the first film focusing on the events of Tolkien's original novel and the second film chronicling the 60 years that pass between.

This is a great news . Though I did not like Hellboy much , but pan's labyrinth was great. Moreover it's great to hear Peter Jackson is in action again. I was eagerly waiting for any sequel of "Lord of the rings" or something related to that context.

My only concern is he'll make it too dark. The Hobbit is after all more lighthearted than LOTR
