My favorite director is Sam Raimi, he's really a good director and I really like his movies.

My favorite’s are those who don’t totally go with the trend of using as stunted a camera as possible.

Mike Leigh
Lars Von Trier
Bruno Dumont
Gus Van Sant (only for his early, and 02-07 work)
Dardenne brothers
Larry Clark but he hasn’t made shit for four years.
Jim Jarmusch
Lynne Ramsay
etc

Well, Manoel de Oliveira’s still going strong, making more than 2 films a year recently, now aged 100. Angelopoulos, Rohmer and Rivette have had grand careers and still alive. I’m looking forward to Angelopoulos’s latest. Of the next generation, Lynch sometimes hits the heights, of the younger ones well i’m still waiting to see which ones really put together a run of great films. Tsai, Apichatpong, Koreeda have done excellent stuff. Kiarostami hasn’t quite progressed in the way i’d hoped, though of course he’s achieved more than enough over the years. A pity Erice and Malick have made so few films. Wong Kar-wai, the Dardennes and Almodovar are usually good value, if very different, the Quay bros and Maddin are interesting, Tarr can be magnificent but still short of Tarkovsky say, well quite a few good ones but not many I really love.
