Samuel Bayer is attached to direct the remake of 1987's Near Dark for Rogue Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The flim follows a young man (played by Adrian Pasdar in the original) forced to join a "family" of traveling vampires after he's bitten and turned by a girl he tried to pick up.

Bayer is best known for his music video work, like Nirvana's Smells like Teen Spirit and Green Day's American Idiot and Boulevard of Broken Dreams.

The remake is being written by Christopher Landon (Disturbia).
