I wan't too high on it at first, but I was a lot more enthusiastic once I realized that Joseph Gorden-Levitt was co-starring.

I saw Inception on Tuesday. I enjoyed it, and the visuals were impressive, but it is already fading in my memory, as dreams do, and the snow commando sequence never felt like a dream in the first place. Dreams, certainly my own dreams, are much weirder, much more mindbending, and much more oblique in how they process what is going on in our heads than anything which Nolan manages to convey in Inception. Leo's character has "issues" and his dream input is repeatedly infected by memories of his wife and kids; Cillian Murphy's character merely conjures up dream defenders. I know that Ellen Page's character is the "architect" of the dreams, but there is little of the dream-like quality of The Matrix, or even of Hitchcock's Spellbound, with its Dali-engineered dream sequences. As for Inception's critical (or not so critical) reception, I have managed to avoid pretty much all the advance word, but if it has been over-praised, I'm not surprised, after the ridiculously over-hyped The Dark Knight.

I think with films such as Inception that have over a yearsworth on anticipation, build-up and so much expectation (considering the director's track record). That people who have built the movie up in their heads to be maybe their next favourite movie without seeing it, get a little bit angry when someone who has had the privelege of getting to see the movie early, and then writes a negative review. You can understand why the reaction might be an angry one.
