It doesn't really bother me any more than Madonna's Like a Prayer video (which also featured a black Jesus), which I actually enjoyed. Still, I imagine that a lot of Americans will positively have a fit over the film (which I'm sure the filmmakers are counting on for publicity).

What's the movie about? Is it the usual "life of Christ" film?

What about the Last Supper Movie starring Mos Def, DL Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer, and Suge Knight as Judas?

In an interview, director Jean-Claude LaMarre ("Go for Broke") has said that he has received death threats, and their website shows attacks by white supremist groups.

LaMarre wrote, directed and stars as Christ.

The cast includes former MTV VJ Ananda Lewis, David Gianopoulos ("Air Force One") and Debbi Morgan ("Coach Carter"). The film depicts Christ's final days.

"Color of the Cross" also hypothesizes that Mary Magdalene was a Persian and that two of the disciples were Asian.

If you're referring to The Last Supper film I mentioned starring Cedric the Entertainer, etc., I was joking about that. Let's hope to God that Hollywood never goes that crazy.

Is this going to be like that remake of the Honeymooners? Or is this a serious remake of one of those other Jesus movies?

Nah, seriously, I don't care if they cast a black man as Jesus. I wouldn't even know the difference. But if they turn it into something preachy, about how he was persecuted for being black, that will be lame.
