George A. Romero (Dawn of the Dead) has reportedly signed on to write and direct Solitary Isle, a film about an expedition to a deserted island which turns out to be more than the explorers bargained for, as an unknown force begins to stalk them.

The film will be based on a short story by Koji Suzuki ("The Ring," "Dark Water").

Is the mysterious force of an undead origin? Or will I have to watch the movie to find out?

The article I read didn't specify, but I didn't get the feeling that it was a zombie flick. I guess Romero does do non-undead films from time to time.
