Default MILK - in theatres Dec. 5

Anyone going to see MILK on December 5?

I saw an advanced screening and thought it was very interesting. Sean Penn delivers a riveting performance and I can assure you, this is director Van Sant’s best film in awhile. Without giving anything away, here's the plot synopsis:

After moving to San Francisco, the middle-aged New Yorker, Harvey Milk, became a Gay Rights activist and city politician. On his third attempt, he was elected to San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors in 1977, making him the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in the USA. The following year, both he and the city’s mayor, George Moscone, were shot to death by former city supervisor, Dan White, who blamed his former colleagues for denying White’s attempt to rescind his resignation from the board.

Wow. Sounds pretty interesting. How well do you think Sean Penn will portray Milk? He's gotten flack in the past over roles like 'I am Sam,' where he plays a mentally challenged person.

I think he'll be fine. There's no question Penn is a teriffic actor but there have been times where he's gone overboard like 'I Am Sam', even though, personally I thought he was great in that but the film was horribly directed.
