Default Favorite Movie Fights

Whether it's a fistfight, gunfight, or large scale battle, this is the place to talk about your favorite movie fights.

Here are a couple of mine:

1. The beginning and the end of Saving Private Ryan. The movie begins with the landing on Omaha Beach and ends with the defense of a French bridge. Both battles are gritty, bloody, and guaranteed to bring the horror or war right into your living room.

2. Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) vs. Mr. Joshua (Gary Busey) in Lethal Weapon. A mixed martial arts showdown on Danny Glover's front lawn. One of the great one-on-one battles in movie history.
Now, get that piece of sh*t off my lawn!

3. Final chase scene in The Road Warrior. Max (Mel Gibson) drives a tanker truck through hordes of post-doomsday scavengers. An update of the classic western stagecoach chase, The Road Warrior introduces elements that would make John Wayne jump into bed and pull the covers tightly over his head. A perfect example of how editing and scoring can make or break a film.

I'll have to think of this one a bit. That marathon fight from "They Live" certainly comes to mind.

Yeah, that was a doozy of a fight. Kudos to Rowdy Roddy Piper and Keith David.

I don't know if you've seen it, but the "cripple fight" between Timmy and Jimmy on South Park was a blow-by-blow recreation of the alley fight from They Live.

1. King Arthur (Graham Chapman) vs. The Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail - Intentionally hilarious stuff. One of the great comedic fights in the history of film.

2. Final battle scene from Big Trouble in Little China - This one had it all. Wire battles before everyone used them. Floating heads. Arcade-like sorcerer duels. Throw in a 6 Demon Bag and you're set.
Kurt Russell's cluelessly macho Jack Burton is the iceing on the cake.

3. Riggs and Murtaugh (Gibson and Glover) vs. Jet Li from Lethal Weapon 4 - A brutal fight featuring two middle-aged men taking on one man who's in peak condition (and then some). Fresh and brutal. This fight assured Jet Li of having a career in the US.

1. The final shootout from Unforgiven with Clint Eastwood. After an entire movie of dispelling western myths, Clint opens 'er up and has William Munny gun down everyone in sight without taking a scratch. Great stuff.

2. The first major battle scene in Braveheart. You got tricky tactics, people mooning one another, and Mel Gibson wielding a sword that's about 9 feet long.

Not only that, but after Munny kills a ton of people, he threatens to kill everyone else. As he does so, an American flag waves behind him in the breeze. Powerful stuff. Definitely one of the great movie fights.

To add to the Unforgiven fight, the space battle between Kirk and Khan from TWOK was brilliant stuff too.

1. The battle inside the dwarven city on Fellowship of the Ring. Not only do they get to hack up orcs and a cave troll, we also see Gandalf's showdown with a Balrog.

2. Opening sword battle from Highlander.

3. The battle between Hector (Eric Bana) and Achilles (Brad Pitt) from Troy.

1. The showdown between Dutch (Schwarzenegger) and The Predator (from Predator)

2. Beck (The Rock) vs. numerous NFL football players from the opening moments of The Rundown. A fantastic bar brawl.

1. John Hatcher (Steven Seagal) vs. Screwface (Basil Wallace) from Marked for Death.
Swordfights, akido, grown men being tossed through walls and thrown down elevator shafts. One of the rare fight scenes where someone got a punch in on a Seagal character.

2. Freddy Krueger vs. Jason Voorhees from Freddy vs. Jason.
The two titans of horror throw down for the title.
