Default Friday the 13th

Jason Voorhees has become the icon of the slashers from the 80's. Over 20 years later and he's still going strong. Not bad for a guy who graduated from a burlap sack to a hockey mask.

Which was your favorite? For that matter, feel free to rank the movies according to how much you liked/disliked them.

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter - Jason vs. Corey Feldman! There's also a young Crispin Glover. Supposed to be the last film, but it's success forced Paramount to rethink that.

Friday the 13th Part 3 - In 3D! Jason dons the hockey mask for the first time and uses his trademark machete. There's even a biker gang.

Friday the 13th - Kevin Bacon in the days before "6 Degrees," and Betsy Palmer as the deranged mother of Jason. The film which gave birth to a franchise.

Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives - Alice Cooper adds songs to the soundtrack (including the excellent "He's Back (The Man Behind the Mask)" and Horseshack gets his heart ripped out. Excellent.

Freddy vs. Jason - The showdown of showdowns and by far the highest grossing movie. And a member of Destiny's Child gets killed. Cool!

Friday the 13th Part 2 - Jason takes up the killing duties. A solid introduction, although he wears a sack on his head.

Jason X - Jason in the future. Need I say more?

Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood - Kane Hodder takes up the role of Jason and takes on a telekinetic girl. Crazy stuff.

Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan - Jason on a boat and briefly in New York. Cool sequence vs. the boxer, but otherwise lackluster.

Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday - Jason is some sort of evil parasite? Erin Grey of Buck Rogers gets killed way too soon. Cool opening scene of Jason vs. the military and the final scene sets up a showdown with Freddy.

Friday the 13th: A New Beginning - The killer wasn't Jason, but rather a deranged ambulance driver. What a disappointment!

Freddy vs. Jason was the bomb. I loved it when Freddy tunred into the giant pot smoking caterpillar and took over the body of the Jason Mewes lookalike.

As much as I hate to admit it, I've only seen the first two movies, and I didn't really like either of them. (Although the 2nd one was noticeably better than the first one.)

Even though I own all of them, I have to admit that if you've seen one, you've probably seen them all. Basically, all the plots go like this:

1. Recap of previous film
2. Intro new batch of kids
3. Jason begins stalking around and picking off people here and there
4. Character development with teens, especially virginal main character
5. Nighttime comes and Jason takes everyone out (except, of course, for the virginal young woman)

The first movie was something of an exception to this rule, but the rest seem to pretty much follow it.

That being said, I still like the series. Have to support those slasher films!

The Final Chapter was my favorite. Feldman vs. Voorhees. What a dream match!
