Default favorite film music

both score and soundtrack...

1. the virgin suicides (AIR rocked it)
2. red roses and petrol (what can i say, i'm a fan of the flogging molly)
3. the shining (and all the amazing things music editor gordon stainforth did with the tracks kubrick chose)
4. american graffiti (lucas basically based the entire film around the extended 41-song soundtrack)
5. and danny elfman's work in edward scissor hands (though all his stuff is amazing for the most part)

random, but all great in my mind.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've never even heard of Red Roses and Petrol, so I'll have to get off my butt and check it out.

haha sure thing. it's a pretty great little indie - a lot of irish music and dancing. and it's based on a pretty famous play of the same title.

Smile Tarantino

Man, I first heard Flogging Molly on the soundtrack of P.S. I Love You! I'm definitely going to check out red roses and petrol.

I'm a big fan of Tarantino movies. Not just because of the film but because you just know the soundtrack is going to have something awesome on it.

I actually blogged about soundtracks as a means for new-music-discovery.

Yes, hands down The Lord of the Rings Trilogy has the best soundtrack evah.
Some runners up are Hard Days Night, South Park Bigger, Longer, Uncut, Sound of Music, and Jaws.

Even though it was a bit haunting...it was a really good movie and the songs were great
