Of Mice and Men
I believe there's two, one that's in black and white, and another in color. Anyway, I saw the color version, it was pretty good. It went well with the book except for 2 or so scenes.

I agree that the modern version is worth a look (I haven't seen the original). It stars John Malkovich and Gary Sinise. Excellent acting and some real heartbreaking moments (especially with Ray Walston and his dog).
