Default Black Christmas - The Original Kicks Ass

Just saw Black Christmas last night (the early 70's version). What a great classic horror film!

For those of you who don't know, it's a story about a sorority house that's being terrorized by a madman around the holidays. It stars the always-hot Elizabeth Hussey, Margot Kidder, Lorraine Newman, and John Saxon.

I thought Halloween was the film which pioneered the POV shot for the modern horror film. I was wrong. This film did it several years earlier.

The movie isn't heavy on gore, but there are some great scares to be had. The atmosphere of the movie is very creepy, especially the last 25 minutes or so. And the killer is really something. Talk about a nut! His phone calls to the sorority house will send chills up your spine.

It holds up very well, and I personally thought it was superior in many ways to Halloween (and I like that one a lot).

Check it out if you have a chance.

I couldn't agree more. This movie really broke ground for all the early 80's slasher film (even though Black Christmas was more about mood and suspense than gore).

Those creepy phone calls will certainly keep you up a night.

See the original, don't bother with the lame remake that came out around the holidays. Over 30 years later, it still holds up very well.

Terrible news. The director (and his son) were just killed by a drunk driver.
