Joss Whedon fans--put some duct tape around your head because it's about to explode. Whedon's Fox drama Dollhouse heads into its second season next fall and it may have a familiar face: Summer Glau.
The possibility of Glau moving into the Dollhouse is certainly no stretch, as Whedon and Glau are practically BFFs. They previously worked together on Firefly and Serenity, and have never masked their affection for each other. And with Teminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles given the axe, Glau's schedule is open. Whedon tells EW.com: "If anybody thinks [adding Glau to Dollhouse] hasn't occurred to me already then they have not met me. I mentioned it to her before [Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles] was cancelled." But Whedon doesn't want to cast Glau as one of Dollhouse's Actives--emotion-free playthings that are imprinted with personalities and skills and hired out to the rich. He wants to cast her in a new role--"someone who talks too much." Let's face it, between her roles as Cameron (a robotic Terminator) and River Tam (an emotionally screwy child prodigy), Glau has played her share of introverted characters, and it would be nice to see her flash that smile a little more often. "Summer said to me, 'I would like to play a normal girl before I die of extreme old age'", Whedon told EW. Eliza Dushku and Summer Glau in the same show? The Fox marketing team is already buzzing. |
