Gossip Girl star gets record deal
Billboard reports that the 23-year-old actress, who plays Upper East Side socialite Blair Waldorf on the hit US TV show, has signed a deal with Universal Republic through Time-Act Music.
The star's music is described as 'electro-pop edge'. She has apparently already been in the studio with big name producers who have previously worked with the likes of Usher, Fergie, Pink and Justin Timberlake. "I'm thrilled to be welcomed into the Universal Republic fold," Leighton said in a statement. "Their reputation for nurturing artists combined with a willingness to break new ground makes it the ultimate environment for me to enjoy making music and explore my own creative boundaries."
