Default Cusack has a Stalker

John Cusack Gets Restraining Order

LOS ANGELES (July 18) - Actor John Cusack , star of such offbeat films as "Grosse Point Blank" and "Being John Malkovich ," obtained a restraining order on Tuesday against a woman he claims has been stalking him.

The order, which was signed by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge, requires 31-year-old Emily Diane Leatherman to stay at least 500 feet from Cusack, 40, as well as the actor's home, workplace, car and offices.

"This person is showing unusual interest by stalking, throwing long letters of interest over my fence in bags with rocks and screwdrivers inside (and) making unannounced visits to offices of people I work with in an attempt to meet with me," Cusack said in his restraining order application.

He said Leatherman "threatens to commit acts of violence against herself if I do not help her" and that her mail has been arriving at his home.

Representatives for Cusack, who appeared alongside Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall in the iconic 1980s film "Sixteen Candles," and later that decade starred in "Say Anything," declined to comment.

The AP reports, "A woman John Cusack claims is stalking him has taken out a court order barring the actor from coming near her.

Cusack was granted a temporary restraining order Tuesday stipulating that Emily Leatherman, 31, stay at least 500 feet away from him, his home, his work, his car and any company or office where he does business.

After the 40-year-old actor sought the order last month, Leatherman made a similar request, which was granted by a Superior Court judge on July 14 pending an August hearing.

In court papers, Cusack said Leatherman "is showing unusual interest by stalking, throwing long letters of interest over my fence in bags with rocks and screwdrivers inside, making unannounced visits to offices of people I work with in an attempt to meet with me and listing my address as her own during a recent arrest."

Leatherman said she only sent Cusack two letters. She said they were to request that he use his celebrity status to urge police to investigate her allegations that she was sexually assaulted by several men in 2001. She said police have refused to take a report."
