In an effort to drum up more interest in the mysterious Cloverfield, two websites have been launched. One called
http://www.ethanhaaswasright.com/ and the other called
http://ethanhaaswaswrong.blogspot.com/.
The former has some weird puzzles that provide cryptic answers when solved. The latter is a poorly-written "blog" debunking the teachings of Ethan Haas as "foolish nonsense." One could say similar things about this whole marketing campaign. In fact, someone already is:
http://www.ethanhaaswaswrong.com/.
Hollywood Reporter has a little more information on the project. The film supposedly takes place during a monster attack on New York City, as told from the point of view of a small group of survivors (who seem to have a consumer-quality camera that they use to tell the story with). When casting, no scripts were sent out, actors were merely asked if they wanted to be in a J.J. Abrams film or not (ah the joys of being a "name"). The cast is made up mostly of unknowns including Michael Stahl-David (The Black Donnellys), Odet Jasmin, Mike Vogel (Supercross) and Lizzy Kaplan (The Class).
