Default a great topic and I have a few to add

The list is great.. a real tough one considering that there are so many great older war movies... and now so many newer contenders. Here are a couple that deserve some merit:

The Young Lions
Birth of A Nation
A Farewell to Arms
Gallipoli
Where Eagles Dare
Guns of Navaronne

this is a strange call, but I beleive that it deserves some merit - it may not have been the best acting in the world, but since it starred the War Hero that it lionized (Audie Murphy), it's got to be relevant.

To Hell and Back

Then, if Schindlers List and MASH are on there, there should be more war-periphery-type movies:

The African Queen
Casablanca
From Here to Eternity

There are a lot more!
