The CW Network has announced that it will be cancelling the Gilmore Girls.
The mother-daughter relationship dramedy, starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel , aired on the WB for six seasons. 'Girls' crossed over to the CW when the WB and UPN merged to form the new network, which launched in September of 2006.
The show focused on the struggles of young mother Lorelai Gilmore, played by Graham, to raise her daughter Rory, Bledel, in the fictional town of Stars Hollow. It chronicled their time from Rory's sophomore year in high school to her senior year at Yale.
In a joint statement, the CW and Warner Bros. Television said, "announcing the final season of 'Gilmore Girls' is truly a sad moment for everyone at The CW and Warner Bros. Television. This series helped define a network and created a fantastic, storybook world featuring some of television's most memorable, lovable characters."
