Edward Woodward was an exceptional actor of the "old-school" variety. By that I mean he had it all: Technique, talent, charisma and "the voice". I remember being mesmerized by his performance in Breaker Morant (long before I ever considered becoming an actor myself). He seemed to have so much contained power - like a prowling tiger. In that respect, he reminded me of Richard Burton.
Later, I had the pleasure of meeting and working with his son, Peter, on the set of "The Patriot". Peter is a delightful man and a very good actor, but his ability doesn't compare to that of his father (as I'm sure he himself would concede). Peter now hosts a series of documentaries for the History Channel.
If you want to observe an actor who is a master of his craft, watch Edward Woodward in "Breaker Morant". You won't be disappointed.

Amen to that. Thanks for the observations, RoyMac.
